County Hotel Tax Rate To Increase

An ordinance passed last week by Cameron County Commissioners will increase the Hotel Room Tax paid by visitors across the county.

Prior to the passage of House Bill 794 in April of 2016, hotels in most parts of Pennsylvania charged a 3% tax that was used by counties to fund tourism promotion in their areas. The bill allows for all counties, except in counties where taxes were already higher, to increase their rates to as high as 5%.
