Cameron County government is looking forward to an upgrade of operating systems in the coming months.

Chief Clerk Brenda Munz informed commissioners at their Thursday (Feb. 15) meeting that the first phase of a new Incode 10 software system should be up and running by early March.

The new package will replace three current business systems  which deal with the county’s general fund, budgeting and other activities.

“The first phase will go online in March and the entire package should be running by the end of June,” said Munz.

Commissioners held a general discussion about the possibility of GKN getting out of the powdered metal business.

There have been reports that GKN wants to sell off its powdered metal operation to concentrate on other business aspects.
