County Storm Damage Tops $200,000

Members of the Emporium Borough Council discussed storm damages, police concerns and ordinance enforcement and changes at November’s regular meeting held on Monday.

The borough’s storm damage totals are in from a rainstorm last month that dumped upwards of six inches on parts of the county in a few hours. The borough alone is claiming damages of $18,700. The county needed at least $18,000 to receive federal funding if state levels are met and funds are released.

Storm damage can cause problems with the exteriors of houses such as damaged roofing. In cases like this, someone like a rockford roofing company would be required to begin repairing the damage to get it back to how it should look. Having a repaired roof also helps to keep your family and possessions safe inside your home. When a roof begins to leak, it can cause damage to the structure inside the house too. This is why it’s so important to make sure that you read a homeowner’s roofing guide to make sure that you’re definitely in need of a roofing company. If you’re unsure, just ring the company anyway to inspect your roof and give you peace of mind. After a storm, it’s likely that there probably will be things damaged around your home, so you might want to start with the roof.

Your exterior doors may have taken the brunt of the weather and may have become badly damaged or worn from the severity of it, this is why installing a door weather seal is beneficial to you just in case it happens again, you will then be better prepared.

With the numbers from PennDOT, townships and other non-profit entities, the county suffered over $200,000 in damages. Plank Road Hollow, South Mountain Road and other locations were washed out, gravel bars accumulated and storm drains filled with silt.
