County Unemployment Rate at 7.1%

 

 

Cameron County’s unemployment rate was calculated at 7.1% for the month of February as it continued to hover between 6.5% and 8.5% over the past few months.

The Pennsylvania rate for the same time period was calculated at 5.0%, down slightly from previous months. State numbers are also in for March, showing the rate down slightly to 4.8% statewide. The rate had decreased two-tenths of a percentage point from the February numbers in March. The rate in March was the lowest level since the start of the last recession, and remains below neighboring states such as Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. The U.S. rate for March of 2017 was recorded at 4.5%.
