Cameron County School District (CCSD) teachers will have to work a little longer before a contract dispute is settled, after the district rejected recommendations from a fact-finding report released on Tuesday.
As of July 1, CCSD teachers have been working without a contract for two years. Negotiations began for a successor agreement for the contract that expired on June 30, 2015 since January of 2015 with no agreement made up until this point.
Earlier this year, fact-finder/arbitrator Timothy W. Gorman was appointed pursuant to state law to review information pertaining to the contract, weigh testimony from each side concerning sticking points, and recommend terms that would be favorable to both sides, but would give neither everything they were looking for.
