Cameron County Commissioners commended Driftwood Borough officials on upgrades to the water system and other improvements being made in operations.

Driftwood Mayor Joseph Williams spoke recently with commissioners and the Echo on ongoing improvements.

“There has been a ton of work done but what stands out is the reduction of leaks in the system,” Williams said. “We will continue to do further leak audits. That’s our biggest accomplishment so far.”

The leak repairs have increased efficiency, and will save money on operations for years to come. Usage has decreased from 80,000 gallons per day down to 14,000 gallons just by fixing breaches in the system.
