Emily Johnston

 

1919 – 2017

Emily Hutchinson Johnston, former Emporium resident, passed away in Vero Beach, FL on (Sept. 27, 2017), at the age of 97. Emily and her family resided in Emporium from 1958 through 1973.  Emily continued to value her many friends and warm memories from Emporium through the remainder of her life.

    HELLO, THIS IS KENT JOHNSTON WHO LIVED ON BROAD ST. IN EMPORIUM PA. FROM 1954 TO 1972. I REMEMBER EMILY AND YOUR FAMILY. BRUCE,DAVID, AND MARGARET. MY OLDEST BROTHER BRUCE I BELIEVE WAS NAMED AFTER YOUR DAD. MY PARENTS WERE JIM AND MARJORIE JOHNSTON, FRIENDS OF YOUR PARENTS. YOUR DAD AND MY DAD WORKED AT SYLVANIA. MY MOM WORKED AT THE COURT HOUSE. I REMEMBER YOUR HOME ON 4TH AND 5TH ST. YOUR MOTHER WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL I REMEMBER WITH A SPARKLE IN HER EYE, SHE WAS ALWAYS VERY KIND. I REMEMBER SLED RIDING WITH YOUR MOM DOWN MAPLE ST. EMPORIUM WAS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO GROW UP, FEEL VERY BLESSED TO HAVE GROWN UP THERE. MY BROTHER BRUCE (76) AND I(64) BOTH LIVE IN STATE COLLEGE, PA. WE LOST OUR BROTHER JAMIE IN A TRUCK/BICYCLE ACCIDENT IN 2008, JAMIE, WAS ON THE BIKE, THIS OCCURRED IN DENVER. CO. MY PARENTS DIED YOUNG IN 1970/71. I REMEMBER YOUR PARENTS, AND TED AND AG ROGERS, AND MY PARENTS GOING TO OLEAN, NY TO EAT AT THE CASTLE RESTAURANT. THEY RODE OVER IN TED’S STAATION WAGON THAT HAD 3 SEATS. AGAIN MANY NICE MEMORIES OF GROWING UP.
