Jane Cotter (middle), head of the Penn Highlands Elk lab and Marsha Uhl, Service Line Director in charge of all four labs at Penn Highlands locations, were the guest speakers at the Rotary luncheon meeting February 6th.
Each hospital in the Penn Highlands network (St. Marys, DuBois, Brookville and Clearfield) has its own laboratory. Also, amongst the communities, are 20+ blood draw sites, one being in Emporium. All labs in the U. S. are licensed by CLIA, which covers 254,000 lab entities and establishes quality standards for laboratory testing performed on specimens from humans, such as blood, bodily fluid and tissue, for the purpose of diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases, or assessment of health.
