From the Bleachers

I want to correct my column from last week; Anthony Grimone has indeed lost his season on the Gannon University baseball team to a broken foot in his senior year, but the news for him is a little better. Grimone was red-shirted in his first year and actually has another year of baseball eligibility should he choose to use it.

A play occurred in the Lady Raider softball game a couple of weeks ago that was very interesting and could have been a real disaster for the umpiring crew.

The Lady Raiders had a runner on first with no outs when the batter struck out but the ball was missed by the catcher. With first base occupied, the batter is out, but she ran to first on the passed ball anyway. The runner on first advanced to second when she beat the throw, but neither umpire realized the batter, who was out, remained on first base.
