From the Bleachers

with Rich Summers

I fully expected to be sitting in my chair at Olivett Field watching the Alle-Catt playoff game between Eldred and Emporium, but once again events and Southwest Airlines have conspired against me.

My wife was to arrive in Pittsburgh from visiting my daughter in Florida at noon, but it is now 4 p.m. and she has yet to leave the Ft. Lauderdale airport due to a combination of mechanical problems and stormy weather. So I will have to count on Catt Manager Ralph McKimm to give me the information when I finally do get home tonight.

Of course the bonus is I’m sitting at my son’s apartment in Wexford watching the Pirates play the Brewers, which isn’t going well right now, and the PGA Golf Championship. In addition to getting in some golf viewing I get to visit with Vince and his girlfriend, Courtney Mason and buy them lunch. So all in all, it’s not a bad day for me, but Karen isn’t likely to look fondly on a nice summer day in which she has now spent eight hours in a crowded airport.
