From the Bleachers

with Rich Summers

After the Alle-Catt game in Crosby on Saturday afternoon I got the chance to sit in the dugout with long time players Rick Uber and Saul Solveson.

I asked Uber if he would reconsider and come back to play next year and he shook his head. He and Saul have played more baseball games than just about anyone around who doesn’t make their living playing the game.

Uber did leave a little opening, saying it was a long winter and if the league would pick up a few more teams he might consider returning. I told him if he didn’t it would be really different for me, as I have seen him play at various levels of baseball for the better part of the last thirty summers, not to mention seeing him play quarterback on the Red Raider football team while I kept stats for then coach Jamie Eckles.
