District 9 football realignment and the future of Cameron County High School football. The two subjects have their own set of circumstances and yet are incontrovertibly connected. Realignment has finally become as close to a done deal as possible while the football program at our high school has anything but a certain future.

First, let’s tackle the subject of District 9 football and its leagues. Later in the month, District schools will vote on changing everything about the way they are grouped into leagues. Under the proposal, the Allegheny Mountain League and the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference will cease to exist. According to a report by D9Sports.com the district schools will be divided into three conferences, the small school north, the small school south and the large school conference.
