From the Bleachers

Last week we visited the possible matchups for the District 9 Class A boys’ basketball playoffs and this week we’ll look at the girls’ Class A tourney. But first a little has changed in my boys’ bracket projection. It looks like CCHS must now win one of their make-up games this week against either Ridgway or Smethport to hold on to the third seed.

Since no one has beaten Ridgway yet, there is a better chance for the Red Raiders to beat Smethport, a team they beat in the Hubbers’ gym 53-38. And Austin has been playing very well lately, winning their last four and overtaking a struggling Oswayo Valley squad for the sixth seed.

Now on to the girls’ tournament. Five of the fifteen teams sport winning records and will take the top five seeds, although most teams have at least one game remaining this week.
