With the quarterfinal win over Austin the Red Raider basketball team has qualified for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Championships, so it is time to look at the state playoff possibilities. The Raiders can finish in any of the first four places in District 9 depending on how they play this week, so let’s look at each possibility.

If CCHS loses both games this week they will finish fourth and according to the PIAA website their opponent would be the top team out of District 7, the WPIAL. The venue would be somewhere in the D7 area which encompasses Allegheny County and most of the counties adjacent to Pittsburgh. The final four in the WPIAL right now are Vincentian Academy, Cornell, Imani Christian and Union. The WPIAL winner is usually very strong and a tough task, especially after a three hour bus ride, so the district’s fourth place spot is one to be avoided. Vincentian is the favorite in the WPIAL.
