The varsity basketball season has come to a conclusion with the Raiders’ loss to Vincentian Academy in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs, but CCHS acquitted themselves well against the WPIAL champs in their own back yard. VA is located in Pittsburgh’s North Hills, which is just adjacent to Bellevue where Northgate High School, the site of the matchup, was held.
I saw some complaints on social media about the site, but the PIAA is clear about how they assign venues in the championships. Cameron County was the fourth team out of District 9 so they had to play in the home district of the number one seed, in this case District 7. That is why Eden Christian from District 9 had to travel to Clarion University to play District 9 number one team Johnsonburg and North Penn-Mansfield High School had to play Ridgway in St. Marys.
