From the Bleachers

I got some feedback from last week’s column concerning when the appropriate time is for mass substitutions at the end of a game that is out of hand and I also remembered my old high school coach’s philosophy on the subject.

First, former Red Raider Coach Joe Holjencin and I were discussing the subject last Wednesday before he broadcast the Lady Raider game on WLEM and his belief was, and he thought this was the agreement most coaches subscribed to, that it is the trailing coach’s job to put his bench players in first. This signals a concession of the game and at that time the winning coach should clear his bench.
