At the end of the 1978 baseball season Russell Earl “Bucky” Dent, a light-hitting shortstop of the New York Yankees, hit a three run homerun against the Boston Red Sox in a tie breaking game added to the end of the season because the Sox and Yankees were tied for the American League East Pennant at the completion of the 162-game regular season. From then on he has been known in New England as Bucky Bleeping Dent.
