During football season it was becoming obvious to me that the only way some of the local high school teams could survive and compete was to follow the lead of Ridgway and Johnsonburg and combine their squads. CCHS Athletic Director Chris Horning told me on Friday that the baseball teams of those schools are now also entering into a cooperative agreement. I believe he said softball, too, but I’m not sure about that.
The reason I bring that up is that this week, the Red Raider basketball team played two teams that are having a hard time fielding varsity basketball teams as well.
