From the Bleachers

I’m not a fan of thoroughbred horse racing, although I generally watch the Kentucky Derby, but the Belmont Stakes race on Saturday captured my attention. Watching the two and a half hour pre-race show is not something I would waste time with but the three minutes or so that it took to get the horses in the gate and run the race is as exciting as it gets, especially when the winner completes the Triple Crown. I just wish the person who named the horse would have spelled Pharaoh correctly.
The Pirates are on a serious run but since I have to complain about something, I hated it that the bulk of the wins in this streak, including a three game sweep of the world champion Giants, were on the west coast. Ten o’clock first pitches are way past my bed time.
