Hunting Trips: Cubed Is Not Square

by William Crisp

A few months ago I wrote about trying to set up an out- of-state hunting trip. If you remember, I had a bunch of guys agree to go last December when the idea was originally pitched. The same guys still agreed to go when I asked for a commitment in the spring before I put in the time and money to set it up.

With the green light given from the group, I launched ahead, reserved cabins, fought with the State over getting us properly set for a group license drawing and put down the reservation cash to hold those things. Once everything was set up and it was time to contribute, a large portion of our group (Is 50% a statistically relevant number?) backed out of the plan.
