Ice Breaker

by William Crisp

On March 15, 2015, one day after Pi day (3/14/15) for you math nerds, it finally started. The ice broke out of the creeks.

It started early in the morning and by early afternoon the Driftwood was a torrent of crushed ice and trees flowing down a turbid lane towards the Susquehanna River. I stood on the banks admiring the power and beauty of it all before saying, “Good riddance.” Winter is releasing its grip and we can now spend our days without shivering once again.
