The Cameron County High School Lady Red Raider varsity softball team entered the 2018 District 9 Class A Championships as the eighth seed and as such hosted the ninth seeded Clarion Limestone Lady Lions last Monday. CCHS dismantled the visitors in four innings but then dropped a decision to the defending champion DuBois Central Lady Cardinals on Wednesday.

Last Monday Laila Smith scattered four hits and hit a two run missile off the senior league outfield fence to lead the Lady Raiders past Clarion Limestone 15-0 in four innings. Smith struck out four and walked two as she and her teammates piled up nineteen hits in just four innings.

In addition to Smith’s homerun, Kaitlyn Burgett also contributed a three run dinger and the Lady Raiders got a pair of doubles by Alyvia McKimm and one each by Taylor Britton, Allyson Narby and Amily Schatz. Smith drove in four runs and McKimm and Burgett had three RBIs each. Kelsee Reid had a pair of singles and scored twice and Narby had three hits, scored three runs and drove in a pair.
