Local Craftsman’s Work Featured In Hollywood Film

A historical movie hitting theatres will feature weaponry crafted by a Cameron County man.

A flintlock rifle built by Ron Luckenbill of Recreating History in Rich Valley was used by Leonardo DiCaprio during filming of The Revenant, which recounts the tale of frontiersman and fur trapper, Hugh Glass in the year 1823.

Agents with 20th Century Fox had been searching for an Angstadt-style rifle for use in the film, as the writer of The Revenant novel, Michael Punke, imagined DiCaprio’s character owning.
