FIELD ANTS
On a recent turkey hunt, I sat next to an old stump. Petals from Choke Cherry trees were falling like snow from an adjacent clear-cut.
Next to me in the leaf litter I noticed a small ant carrying one of the petals.
I’ve often seen leaf-cutter ants carrying pieces of leaves to their nest but never flower petals.
