Mountain Lines

DEER NUMBERS ON THE INCREASE
This is the first time in 17 years I’ve actually seen “herds” of deer where I live in Wildlife Management Unit 2-H. I’ve actually seen the faint return of the browse line which warms my heart but sends chills down the spine of Pennsylvania deer managers.
It’s ironic that I might have to explain to the younger generation of deer hunters, if there are any, what a browse line is. I won’t try to explain it now since they all have an I-phone permanently attached to their body and can look it up themselves. The rest of us know.
I am blessed with the ability to plainly see the return of the White-tailed Deer to the area where I live, whereas Pennsylvania’s Deer Managers in Harrisburg have the responsibility of managing the deer herd over the entire state and their “one-plan-fits-all” policy of deer management doesn’t work too well and in fact is quite disastrous.
