Palumbo Qualifies For Regional Tourney

Cameron County High School freshman Nate Palumbo took fourth place at this weekend’s District 9 Class AA Wrestling Championship Tournament held at Clearfield High School and in doing so qualified for the PIAA Northwest Regional Tournament to be held at Sharon High School on Friday and Saturday.
Palumbo, competing in the 285 lb. weight class, received a first round bye and then dropped his opening match to Hayden Thompson, a Brockway junior, by a score of 6-2. Palumbo then moved to the consolation bracket where he pinned Ridgway freshman Jacob Kunselman (2:23) and Sheffield junior Nick Knowles (4:34). In the consolation finals for third place Palumbo then ran into Thompson again and was pinned in 3:10.
