Preliminary Numbers In For Elk Season

Pennsylvania’s annual Elk Hunting Season was held last week, with hunters harvesting many of the animals permitted through the lottery license system.

Lucky hunters are chosen through a lottery system during an annual festival held at the Elk Country Visitors Center in Benezette. Each tag is assigned to a management area, and a limited number of elk can be harvested from each region.

Within 24-hours of harvesting an elk, hunters must take their harvest to the Elk Check Station located at the Old Benezette School House on Route 555 in Elk County.
