An Emporium man serving jail time for unlawful contact with a minor was granted parole on Tuesday during Return Day hearings held at the Cameron County Courthouse.

Judge Richard Masson agreed to allow Matthew Kriner, age 28, to be paroled from jail, but ordered that he spend the next several months on house arrest. Kriner was sentenced on charges of unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault and related charges in April of 2017 and was ordered to serve a minimum of 10 months in jail following his guilty plea.

A number of defendants were accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program.
