Brenda Porter, Interim Director and Chief Operating Officer of Penn Highland Elk’s Community Nurses  described the agency’s mission and program as the guest speaker at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Emporium Rotary Club January 3rd. Brenda is shown with Rotarian Georgiann Holly (right).

In 1929, members of the Woman’s Club of St. Marys recognized the need to promote the health of the community and to provide for the care of the sick in their homes.  Since its beginning in 1929, Community Nurses has developed and grown into the premier home care agency in the region employing over 275 individuals and providing home health, hospice, professional nursing care,  adult day services, rehabilitation dietitian nutrition counseling, social services and community health and education to thousands of area residents each year.
