Emporium Rotary members forego a hot cooked lunch by brown bagging it at their luncheon meeting October 24th and donating their lunch money to The Rotary Foundation for World Polio Day.  Each year, the club donates a substantial amount towards the eradication of polio in the world. Robin Kuleck (shown left) spoke to the group on this subject.

Poliomyelitis (polio) is a crippling and potentially fatal disease that still threatens children in parts of the world. The poliovirus invades the nervous system and can cause paralysis in a matter of hours. It can strike at any age but mainly affects children under five.
