Sarah Nolan (left) one of Emporium’s newest residents, was the guest speaker at the Rotary luncheon meeting January 23rd.

Sarah grew up in Michigan, and after graduating in 1995, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  She has quite an impressive military background with 20 years of military service.  During her service, she has lived many places in the U.S. and overseas including, Okinawa, Iraq and Afghanistan.

After her retirement as First Sergeant/USMC, she was looking for a place to put down roots.  After visiting a friend in Emporium one Thanksgiving, she fell in love with our quaint little town and states that “Emporium is the friendliest place she has lived.” She decided to move here, along with her son, who is in ninth grade, and purchased the big home on the corner of Fifth and Walnut streets (former Rishell property).
