Seven Students Advance to Rotary Finals

Seven students advanced to the local finals round of the Emporium Rotary’s 4-Way Speech Competition held last week, which determined which student advances to the Regional round in April.

Nine students entered the first round of competition, held in February. From those nine, six typically advance, but as sixth and seventh place were considered a virtual tie, both students were invited to the next round of selection.

Each contestant chooses a topic that addresses an ethical issue using the principles of the 4-Way Test: Is it the truth; is it fair to all concerned; will it build goodwill and better friendships; and will it be beneficial to all concerned.
