South Broad Street Residents Complain Of Blighted Property

Emporium’s Borough Manager gave an update on the ongoing issues surrounding the large number of blighted properties in town after several residents of the South Broad Street area attended Monday night’s meeting to speak on the issues of living near one of the mostly abandoned homes.

Borough Manager Don Reed stated that he is working with Code Enforcement Officer Russ Braun to have some of the issues tended to, but Braun covers all of Cameron and Elk counties and a portion of McKean and it is difficult to arrange times to visit buildings in town.

“This can’t wait any longer. It’s been way too long. Whatever we need to do, we need to do it,” stated Council President Luann Reed. “Fine them. That’s what we need: fines.”
