Three Shade Tree Commission Members Honored On Arbor Day

Emporium was named a Tree City, USA during Arbor Day celebrations held Thursday on North Broad Street.

For the 28th year, Emporium has been honored with this title, which is only bestowed upon about 3,400 communities across the country.

“This is pretty significant. There are not too many municipalities in Pennsylvania that have been in the program that long,” said Elk State District Forester Toby Herzing, who presented a flag for display at the borough building and new stickers for Emporium’s Tree City signs. “Not everyone realizes the time, effort and dedication put into this.”
