Unemployment Rate In County at 7%
According to the most recent job number postings, Cameron County’s unemployment rate is now 7.0%, much closer to levels prior to the start of the recession in 2007 than they have been in the past few years.
At the height of the recession, in June of 2009, the rate was 18.7%. Prior to that, the rate was 5.8%.
The most recent numbers were released by the Department of Labor and Industry on June 2, and reflect statistics recorded for April of 2015.
