Veterans Day Ceremonies Scheduled For Friday

The traditional Veterans’ Day Ceremony will be held in the Cameron County High School Auditorium beginning at 9 a.m. The ceremony is open to the public. The names of soldiers who died while serving their country during each war will be read. Current Cameron County Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6221 Quartermaster Barry Sarick, United States Navy (retired) will speak at the ceremony.

Following services at the school, a memorial ceremony will be held at the Big Flag Memorial just east of Emporium on Route 120 to observe World War II, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and other conflicts. Assembled participants will then travel to the Cameron County Courthouse for observances by the American Legion Auxiliary and a wreath-laying in front of the World War I memorial. Twenty-One Gun Salutes will be fired at both memorial locations.
