Memorial Day celebrations in Cameron County kicked off with a parade featuring veterans, the Cameron County Honor Guard and high school marching band and Little League teams.
The parade included a float carrying veterans of the armed services, and a number of other veterans walked the parade route. A large contingent of Honor Guard members led the parade, while the Cameron County High School Marching Band and Color guard stopped to perform at several locations.
Children thronged Fourth Street throughout town to collect candy thrown by the Boy Scouts, mayor, VFW Auxiliary members and other groups marching in the parade.
