Wandering Aimlessly

Changes To Mentored Youth Program?

by Phil Burkhouse

I have been reading with interest about the upcoming agenda for the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners.  It appears that very little change is planned for deer hunting seasons and licenses.  Almost every hunter I talked to in our area is quite unhappy with the low deer numbers but don’t look for any revision to deer management policies in the near future—everything is fine.

There has, also, been much discussion over the wishes of the PGC to charge fees for non-hunters using the game lands.  People who like to hike, bike, horse ride, or otherwise wander aimlessly on the PGC lands and do not have a hunting license might soon need a permit to enter onto the game lands.
