Middle Creek

Last week’s question dealt with the location of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area located near Kleinfeltersville. Kleinfeltersville is a small town in southeastern Pennsylvania located several miles north of I-76 and approximately fifteen miles north of Lancaster. I, also, asked if you can get there from here, and that answer is perhaps!
Kleinfeltersville is east of Harrisburg; I would judge it is approximately a third of the distance between Harrisburg and the Pennsylvania—New Jersey border. According to MapQuest, the journey from Emporium to the WMA should take about four hours and is a distance of approximately two hundred miles. The reason you might want to consider this long range adventure is to take in the peak of the annual late winter waterfowl migration.
