This year’s Weekend in the Wilds event was a huge success and drew record crowds for a number of events.

The annual festival held in downtown Emporium drew thousands throughout Friday evening and Saturday leading up to a packed set of grandstands at the football field for the biggest fireworks display in recent history.

“We had a record number of vendors and a record number of people at the school for the fireworks,” stated Cameron County Chamber of Commerce and Artisan Center Director Tina Johns-Solak. “It was awesome. We were so happy with the turnout.”
