County’s Unemployment Rate at 6.8%
Employment in the United States continues to improve as unemployment numbers crept closer to pre-recession levels in the latest data released this week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Cameron County’s unemployment rate for September is shown at 6.8%. The recorded rate for December of 2007, the pre-recession numbers used for comparison, was 5.8%. In contrast, at the height of the recession, there was an 18.4% unemployment rate in Cameron County.
