Super Bowl Sunday is virtually a national holiday, but today I will be more interested in the NHL matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville Predators before the football game. The Pens had a great start to the season but have played very unevenly since Christmas, largely due to injuries. It doesn’t appear Sidney Crosby and his crew are in danger of missing the playoffs but it would behoove them to get on a bit of a roll in the second half of the season.
D9Sports.com has a weekly poll for the district’s basketball teams and the Red Raiders rank ninth in the latest poll. The top ten are Clearfield, Clarion-Limestone, Coudersport, Ridgway, Elk County Catholic, DuBois, DuBois Central Catholic, Redbank Valley, Cameron County and Cranberry. That makes CCHS sixth among Class A teams they will see in the playoffs as Clearfield is AAA, DuBois is AAAA and Redbank Valley and Cranberry are AA.
