A Saturday-morning fire has caused millions of dollars in estimated damages to an Emporium industrial facility.

More than a hundred emergency responders were called in from across the region to battle the three-alarm fire engulfing an industrial wood-processing facility that is one of the county’s biggest employers.

Members of the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) were dispatched to Emporium Hardwoods industrial facility in Shippen Township, Cameron County, shortly after 4 a.m on Saturday morning. The fire was discovered in the building that houses operations dealing with green (unseasoned) wood by night-duty watchmen.
