Smith Sentenced To 14+ Years

An Emporium man found guilty of carjacking and other offenses by a federal jury has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison followed by supervised release, according to a report in the Bradford Era this week.

Thomas Edward Smith, age 59, of Emporium, was found guilty of carjacking, possession of a stolen firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a stolen firearm by a federal jury in July, stemming from incidents occurring in Cameron County on August 8, 2012, and was sentenced by U.S. Middle District Chief Judge Christopher C. Conner on Friday.
