High Fire Danger Continues

    With the continued warm and windy spring, the fire danger continues to remain high. There were several fires again this weekend. There were several fires last weekend, too, with the largest occurring on Sunday, April 13. The fire cause is under investigation.

Spaghetti Dinner in Austin

    A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Senior Banquet will be held Tuesday, May 6th from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Austin School cafeteria. Cost is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 and under. The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs, breadsticks, salad, desserts and beverage.  

Austin Named To Tech. Honor Society

Former Resident’s Death Ruled Homicide

    The death of a former Emporium resident and graduate of Cameron County High School found in his apartment last week has been ruled a homicide. Cyle Blake Strahl, age 29, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was found unresponsive in the doorway of his apartment last Saturday evening.

St. James To Open April 26

    There will be no Mass at St. James the first weekend of fishing season this year because it coincides with Palm Sunday. St. James will open on April 26 with Saturday evening vigil Masses being held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday evenings.  

Food Pantry

    The Cameron County Food Pantry will hold a distribution for people determined eligible on Wednesday, April 16th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the building located behind the Northern Tier Community Action offices at 135 West Fourth Street in Emporium.
