OB/GYN Joins Penn Highlands Elk

    Penn Highlands Elk is welcoming a new obstetrician/gynecologist to Penn Highlands Women’s Care.  Kathy Elizeus, M.D., earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and completed an obstetrics/gynecology residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She is board certified and a diplomate in obstetrics and gynecology.

VFW Bingo Is Back

  Miller-Raffaele Post 6221 VFW is going to have Bingo again this fall. It will start on Septemer 7th and will run until May 16, 2016. It is held on the first and third Mondays of the month. Doors open at 5 p.m. and calling starts at 6:30 p.m.

St. Mark Mass Time Change

  The mass time at St. Mark Church for Saturday, September 5th, has been changed to 4:30 p.m. Mass at St. James in Driftwood will remain the same, also at 4:30 p.m.   The time change has been made for this day because of the Family Festival occurring at St. Mark.

Quackers Available at L&M Lumber

    The Firequacker 2015 Duck Race will explode on Saturday, October 10 during the First Fork Festival at Sinnemahoning State Park.  Joining the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce as a duck adoption center is L&M Lumber on Route 155 just outside of Emporium.  

Patros Hits 19 Gallon Milestone

    The American Red Cross Blood Drive was held at the Emporium VFW Club Rooms on Thursday, Aug. 13th, with 41 productive donations. Forty-two donors were presented but two were deferrals and one was not successful. The goal for the day was 38, so the Drive went very well once again.

Newton Wins Pickleball Tournament

    Ben  Newton captured first place in Saturday’s Pickleball Tournament. Newton scored a total of 61 of a possible 66 points to lead the play. All participants played six games in the round robin format.

National Fuel Supply Charges To Increase

    It has been a difficult season to create and improve trails due to the wet summer months but the staff on the Elk State Forest made significant improvements.  Since restricting cross-country equine riding to designated trail riding this year, the Thunder Mountain Equine Trail length has more than doubled.
